"It's That Simple"

About Phuket Island

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. At 540 square kilometers, it is about the same size as Singapore. Just over an hour by jet from Bangkok and with daily connections to most major Asian airports, Phuket is ideally situated for a relaxing vacation or in our case, Phuket In Thailand is obviously one of our main operations in Thailand and where many of our staff work.

Early History
Located on trading routes between India and China, Phuket was subjected to foreign influences long before many other parts of Thailand. Ships would anchor in the safe harbors of Phuket and wait for the northeast monsoon winds which would allow them to proceed to India.

The interior jungle was inhabited by indigenous tribes until they were displaced in the 19th century by tin miners. The coastal areas were inhabited by Chao Leh, sea-gypsies who made their living through piracy and fishing for pearls. Although threatened by development, Chao Leh villages can still be found along the coast of Phuket and neighbouring islands.

Phuket first became part of a Thai state during the thirteenth century when Thai armies from Sukhothai wrestled control of the island from the Sirivijaya Empire based in Sumatra.

Tourism
Tourism began on the island in the 1970s with the first beach bungalows at Patong beach. During this time Phuket was a haven for backpackers. Phuket's idyllic tropical beaches and clear warm waters attracted travelers from all over the world to the island. This was facilitated by the building of an airport in the mid-1970s.

Today, tourism is by far the island's biggest industry with over 3 million tourists visiting the island annually, making Phuket one of the most popular travel destinations in South-East Asia so Timeshare sales jobs on Phuket In Thailand is obviously one of our main operations in Thailand and where many of our staff work.

Phuket's Climate
It is warm in Phuket all year round with temperatures ranging between 25 - 34°C (77 - 93°F). Phuket's weather is typically divided into two distinct seasons, dry and rainy, with transitional periods in between. The seasons are dictated by the tropical monsoon, which is characterized by prevailing winds that blow from the northeast for half the year, then reverse and blow from the southwest, producing a dry season and a wet season.

Getting Around Phuket:

Public transportation on Phuket can be a little frustrating at times. It certainly isn't well organized, and it can be expensive for those on a budget, though it doesn't have to be. However, it would be a crying shame if you never ventured out of your hotel or beyond walking distance from it. Phuket is a large island with so much to see and do.

Transportation on Phuket is in plentiful supply, especially if you are staying in a busy area. Your hotel can arrange a taxi or tuk tuk for you, or you can venture outside and flag one down yourself.

If you are feeling a bit daring or are in a hurry there are motorbike taxis that will take you where you need to go.

The best way to see the real Phuket, however, is to rent a car or motorbike. By renting your own transportation you can really get to explore all that Phuket has to offer. Most of the roads are fine. Occasionally you may come across dirt tracks, but in nearly all cases, an ordinary 2-wheel drive vehicle is adequate. You can arrange car or jeep hire from the airport, most major hotels or from private companies. Motorbikes can be hired from just about anywhere.

Internet Cafes:
Internet cafes can be found all over Phuket which provide Internet access. Rates are very reasonable, with prices ranging between 30 - 150 Baht per hour, depending on the speed of connection and type of establishment. Generally, Internet cafes in Phuket City are cheaper than those near the beach. Some charge by the minute and have a minimum charge (usually between 10 - 15 minutes), while other establishments may charge by the hour.

Some hotels provide Internet connections in their rooms or WiFi (see below) throughout the property. More common is a business centre or Internet cafe in the hotel which provides Internet access, at a premium of course.

There is a small Internet cafe at Phuket Airport in the departure hall. It is not cheap but is great for passing the time while waiting for your flight or sending a quick email home.

Currency:
The currency of Thailand is the Baht. 1 Baht = 100 Satangs.

Paper currency comes in 1,000 , 500 , 100 , 50 , 20 , and 10 Baht denominations. Bank notes are scaled as well as coloured according to value. The larger the denomination, the larger the size of the note. Coins come in 10 Baht, 5 Baht, 1 Baht, 50-Satang and 25-Satang denominations.

It’s recommended to keep a good amount of smaller notes handy, as making change for 1,000 Baht or even 500 Baht notes can occasionally be difficult.

Money Exchange
Foreign currency can be easily exchanged at branches of the major banks in Phuket Town and Patong, or at the numerous kiosks operated by the banks throughout Patong, Karon, Kata and Phuket City. Money can also be exchanged at hotels, although bank rates are usually a lot better.

Most currency exchange kiosks are open from 08:00 or 09:30 and close around 20:00, seven days a week.

Credit Cards
Visa and MasterCard are the most widely accepted cards, followed by American Express and Japan Card Bureau (JCB). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, tour agencies, as well as certain restaurants and shops. However, you will need cash for markets, streets stalls and when paying for transport.

Phuket Beaches & Places:
Phuket is a large island with a wide choice of beaches to suit every taste and requirement. Most of the beaches are located on the west coast of the island. The quieter beaches tend to be found towards the island's northwestern coastline, while the greatest concentration of hotels, shops and restaurants is located around Patong and stretches south towards Karon and Kata.

Phuket Nightlife:
Phuket is renowned for its nightlife so working in Timeshare sales jobs on Phuket in Thailand a great place to be what ever you like.

If you're still hungry for more stimulation at the end of the day you won't be disappointed by the range of entertainment and nightlife Phuket has to offer.

Nearly all the tourist areas have some bars where you can enjoy a drink, though you will need to head over to the larger resort areas such as Patong or Karon for a more vibrant atmosphere. For discos and nightclubs, and the widest variety of bars, Patong is the place to be.

Patong is without a doubt the centre of the island's nightlife scene. Bars in Patong can be roughly divided into beer bars, go-go bars and regular bars.

The scene in Patong is centred around Bangla road and its many offshoots. The road runs perpendicular to the beach road towards the northern end of Patong. Bangla is only about half a kilometer and is pedestrian street in the evening making it easy to walk around and bar hop.

Other bar areas include: the Sukhumvit road complex, opposite the C&N hotel on Rat-U-Thit road, Sunset Plaza at the southern end of Patong beach opposite the Seapearl Hotel, Soi Dongtan on the beach road just north of Bangla, and Sawatdirak road which runs is the next road running parallel to Bangla so this ensures a relaxing and magical place to live your time in Timeshare sales jobs on Phuket in Thailand.

To sum up Phuket Island and living there.
